Bishop's Stortford was the birthplace of Cecil Rhodes and his former home is now The Rhodes Centre which is a recently refurbished Arts Centre, Museum and Theatre.

In the surrounding area there are many historic and beautiful villages with delightful pubs and restaurants, including The Cricketers in Clavering where Jamie Oliver grew up, which is 5 miles away. The East Anglian region. is within easy reach.

Nearby attractions include Cambridge, London, Duxford Air and War Museum, Saxon village and Toy museum in Stansted Mountfitchet, Mole Hall Wildlife Park and Audley End House along with its delightful narrow gauge railway.

Hockerill Anglo European College was voted the top school in England offering the International Baccalaureate, The Herts. and Essex High School is one of the top girls schools in the country and The Bishop’s Stortford Boys College is of national repute. Grange Guest House is close to these schools and is a good place to stay should you be viewing them.
